About Australian Songbook

The project penned ‘AUSTRALIAN SONGBOOK’, sees Mitch Grainger collaborating with a number of Australia’s celebrities in documenting and recording stories from across Australia.

Working hand in hand with local media, the project invites residents of select Australian communities to send in stories about their town or suburb. A suitable story is then chosen and used as inspiration for a song written by Mitch Grainger and the featured celebrity artist.

‘AUSTRALIAN SONGBOOK’ spotlights Australian communities, whilst encouraging cultural and social exchange through school workshops, performances and local initiatives. The project is currently in development for TV and was recently piloted with iconic Australian actor, Jack Thompson (See chapter one).
